Our Partners

Our work and impact would not be possible without the generous support, vision, and leadership expressed by our community partners & awesome donors. We are proud to have the following people, organizations, and family funds behind this work:

Montana Board of Crime Control

mbcclogo1The Montana Board of Crime Control is the single state agency dedicated to promoting public safety, crime prevention and victim assistance. It is governed by a board of directors consisting of a broad range of public and private professionals who have expertise in our justice system. For more than 40 years, the board has provided leadership and financial assistance in support of comprehensive statewide planning to reform and improve Montana’s justice system.

The Montana Board of Crime Control has served as one of the foundational supporters of CRYJ’s programming (both past and present). MBCC administers two grants that cover personnel costs linked with CRYJ’s restorative programming, victim outreach and support, and – most recently, our piloted school-based intervention and restorative supports.

Juvenile Probation – Judicial District 11

montana-sealJuvenile probation is an integral part of the Youth Court and is overseen by the Youth Court judge within each of the 22 judicial districts. Most referrals to the Youth Court’s juvenile probation office are in the form of a ticket accompanied by a report from law enforcement. Juvenile probation officers may handle any referral except traffic and fish and game violations, which fall under the jurisdiction of the Justice, Municipal, City, and District Courts.

CRYJ is proud to call Youth Court Services our longest, and most foundational community partner.  CRYJ’s programming structure grew out of Youth Court’s vision and a leadership commitment to serve youth in Flathead County – and both organizations continue to work collaboratively to ensure that this priority is maintained through restorative approaches and alternatives to sentencing.

The Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation

dpwfThe Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation is the primary charitable organization of The Washington Companies. It is funded primarily through personal contributions by the Washington Family and annual contributions by the Montana-based Washington Companies.

Funding from the Washington Foundation (2015) allowed CRYJ to open programming to ‘drop in’ youth and youth at risk of entering the justice system. Funds provided provide preventative support for youth at risk of being removed from school or those youth in our community if need of supportive and transformative after-school programming.

Gianforte Family Foundation

gfflogo-blue-130x333The Gianforte Family Foundation was established in 2006 by Greg and Susan Gianforte, in response to God’s great goodness to them.  The foundation makes financial grants that equip people with the knowledge and means to improve their lives and circumstances for the long term, as well as creating lasting change in their communities.

Since it’s creation the foundation has become one of the top giving foundations in the state of Montana.  Foundation grants focus on improving education, lifting people out of poverty, protecting the unborn, and Christian outreach, as well as enhancing the family’s hometown community of Bozeman, Montana.

The Gianforte Foundation supports the Trellis Project – create opportunities for at risk youth in our community to engage in job skills training and empowering workshops designed to develop skills, resilience, and social emotional learning that creates access to healthy and more productive lives.

Whitefish Community Foundation

The mission of the Whitefish Community Foundation is to enrich the quality of life in the Whitefish area by fostering philanthropy, building endowments, and helping donors and nonprofits benefit our community.

Since 2000, Whitefish Community Foundation funding has supported the hungry, assisted the underserved, built affordable housing, cared for the sick and enriched your lives through the arts. The Foundation’s funding does not come from a single source, donor or corporation but from hundreds of individuals and organizations with one thing in common—they all care about Whitefish.

The Whitefish Community Foundation has provided community-based support for CRYJ’s programming since 2013.  Currently, CRYJ is participating as one of 40 local nonprofits in the Foundation’s Great Fish Challenge (Link) – where all donations to CRYJ’s Trellis Project have the opportunity to be matched through foundation and community support.

Montana Community Foundation: Social Justice Fund

montana-community-foundation-500Since 1988, the Montana Community Foundation has worked tirelessly to create permanent philanthropy and build stronger communities. Our work with donors, charitable organizations, cities and towns plays a critical role in both philanthropic and community development. Since our founding, we have reinvested more than $37 million in Montana. In just the past 10 years, we have awarded more than 8,000 grants totaling more than $18.6 million.

We are so excited to be recipients of this year’s Social Justice Fund – specifically for our efforts to research and implement restorative practices and partnerships that will shift school to justice pipeline trends and realities in our communities and in others. Funding support helped launch a pilot truancy mentorship program designed to provide support and connection to those youth at risk of dropping out of school, or pushed to the justice system for small, non-violent school-based offenses.
