Sharpen up your chopstick skills and make your reservations! It’s time again for CRYJ Community Night at Wasabi Sushi and Ginger Bar. Wasabi will be dedicating a portion of their proceeds to the restorative justice and teen empowerment work we do here at CRYJ; we are so grateful for their longtime support of Flathead Valley teens!
“Not Your Average Love Story” was envisioned as a curated story slam of sorts. Riffing on Valentine’s Day, this is an opportunity not just to show some love for the teens participating at CRYJ, but to gather as a community and acknowledge that love is so much more than boxes of chocolates and bouquets of roses.
Love is hard and love is messy. It’s not always about romance and it’s not always about people. Love is so many things, and so many different things. All at once.
With snacks from Ellie and Orion (of Wich Haus fame), wine from MonteVino, and a community coming together for an intimate evening of bold truth telling, CRYJ’s storytellers (young and old) will peel back the layers of that age old question: What is love?
Our friends over at Backslope are graciously hosting CRYJ on Tuesday, January 15th for a “Community Tuesday.” The opportunity is both for Backslope patrons to learn a little bit more about organizations operating in the Flathead Valley, and also to support CRYJ teen programming: a portion of sales for the day will be donated to CRYJ! Thanks Backslope; we look forward to seeing you there! (and look forward to pickle fries!)

Join CRYJ teens, staff, and volunteers for a night in giving back to our community. Some previous CRYJ participants have recently experienced loss; we will be making care packages to support them and their families through challenging times.
We’re still deciding what we want to watch, but can guarantee it will be a good one. Join us for popcorn, snacks, and a good time just hanging with teens!

Not our party, but we’ll be there! Our friends at the Heart Locker are throwing this one: not only are we excited for school to be out for the summer, but also excited to connect with all the cool people and organizations that are doing things with Flathead Valley kids, teens, and families this summer.
We get to work with Nate Chute Foundation a lot, and love the work they do. See their events page for more info on this training, as well as other community events they are hosting.
Thursday, May 18th at the Gateway Community Center. See the flyer or this Facebook link for more details!
Wasabi hosts CRYJ on Sunday, May 7th: A portion of sales from the evening (dine-in and take out) will be dedicated to supporting CRYJ teens. Reservations are recommended; please call (406) 863-9283 or visit www.wasabimt.com
Many community members have volunteered, or are interested in volunteering at CRYJ. This is a group for engaged community members to dig in a little deeper… to connect with other community members, to discuss working with teens, and ask questions like:
“What is my role as a volunteer at CRYJ?”
”What is appropriate to share about myself or my experiences"?”
”What should I do if ______ happens?”
We’d like to keep this group small, so please use this link to sign up.
A 5k fun run and hike, with kid’s obstacle course, food trucks, and more!
11am April 29th at Herron Park. Parkside Credit Union is launching this benefit event for Glacier High’s Ascent program, and other great valley non-profits, including CRYJ, and our friends at Sparrow’s Nest and the Heart Program. These are all AWESOME youth-serving programs, and we are excited to participate - with a goal of raising $50,000 for these programs!
The signup and more information is available online now:

Call it a training, call it a conversation, but this is just a “what we do” sort of thing. Perfect for new volunteers to learn a little bit more about restorative circles, and perfect for old friends of CRYJ to engage with CRYJ and community members about building connections, responding to harm, and supporting Flathead Valley teenagers.
Space is limited to 12 participants; please use this Signup Genius link to save yourself a spot! Never hesitate to reach out with any questions, and we look forward to seeing you on April 6th!
Storytelling, community, food, and drink. What more do we need?
This is an evening where we can gather as a community to laugh, cry, and ponder the stories that bring us together as humans. Teens, parents, and community members have stories of love ready to be shared; are you ready to listen?
Not only does your entry ticket include hors d'oeuvres from Forage, two complimentary drinks (beer and wine), and fun, and some great storytelling, but it supports Flathead Valley's most vulnerable (and intelligent and funny and thoughtful and amazing) teens: the ones that walk through CRYJ’s doors every day.
Join CRYJ in Columbia Falls on October 25th for some of the tastiest food in the valley! And for a good cause! A portion of sales from the day will be donated to support Flathead Valley teens. Though we are located in Kalispell, you may not know that CRYJ works with teens from all over the valley!
While Backslope’s generous support lasts the entire day, stop by after 5pm if you want to say hello to CRYJ staff and board members. See you there!
CRYJ has been collecting community voices the last couple months, asking the questions “How do you want this community to see you?” and “What makes a community feel safe?”
With recordings of these voices, we have captured the sound waves for those answers and invite you - our community - to help give life and color to these shapes. This mural will be proudly displayed on CRYJ’s building, and an interactive multimedia version available in our office and on our website. Come have pizza, grab a brush, and let’s make this thing happen!

We’ll be there, how about you?
The 2022 Launch event will be on Thursday, August 4 at Park Side Credit Union in Whitefish. It’s the best way to catch up with all your favorite Flathead non-profits in the same place. See Whitefish Community Foundation’s website for further details!
